East Side Retail Park in Garforth.

Trio of tenants set to join Garforth retail park as occupancy hits 85%

Three new tenants are set to join Lidl at a new retail park in east Leeds, which is now 85% pre-sold or pre-let.

East Side Retail Park in Garforth is set to welcome Home Bargains, which taken 28,000 sq ft, and Marston’s PLC which signed up to operate a family pub. In addition, Westwood Veterinary Practice will relocate from Station Yard to a new purpose built clinic at the development.

Just 10,000 sq ft of space is left to be let at the park, available as one or two units.

The park is being delivered by C&W Property Developments, a partnership between Caddick Construction and property investor Duncan Waller.

This month, Caddick Construction began the build on the Lidl store, previously announced as the lead tenant for the retail park.

Duncan Waller, director of C&W Property Developments, commented: “It’s fantastic to see work start on site and this exciting new retail park begin to take shape. The multi-million pound investment will bring so many benefits to Garforth including jobs and road improvements as well as more choice and convenience for local shoppers.”

Construction of phases one and two is expected to take just over a year, with work on the Lidl store set to complete in March and the remaining units to follow later in 2018. The park will also include 132 car parking spaces, five of which will have electric car charging points.

Adrian Dobson, commercial director at Caddick Construction, added: “This project is a great addition to our portfolio of Yorkshire clients.

“We have a vast amount of retail experience, having worked on The Core in Leeds city centre, Kilner Way Retail Park in Sheffield and Vangarde Shopping Park in York, highlighting our capability of delivering high quality projects on any scale.

“Over the coming weeks, passers-by will see changes taking place quite quickly as the frame for Lidl begins to take shape. We’ll also be undertaking some road works in order to create a new entrance to the retail park.”

Liz Askew, clinical director at Westwood Veterinary Practice, also said: “We’re very much looking forward to moving into our brand new purpose built clinic.

“Our new premises will include more examination rooms, a dedicated dental suite and state of the art surgical facilities allowing us to perform a wider range of procedures.”

Caddick Construction and Caddick Civil Engineering are the operational arms of Caddick Group PLC. The Group employs almost 500 people and its turnover is £90m.
