Gumtree UK has unveiled its new job search offering

Gumtree has launched a new job portal, Jobs from Gumtree, which follows the company’s previous jobs category on its site.

It offers workers a better job search functionality after much feedback indicated many recruiters were faced with several unsuitable, irrelevant applicants. Gumtree’s time-based listing model also meant jobseekers weren’t seeing the variety of opportunities available.

George Buckingham, head of verticals at Gumtree UK, said: “We conducted research to ensure we really understood how jobseekers and recruiters find each other, and discovered new job search behaviours reflecting the millions of gig economy workers in the UK.”

He added that this new feature should help jobseekers find the right role quicker, helping refine the process of job hunting and find more relevant job results.

Jobs for Gumtree will target sectors including hospitality and catering; construction; driving and logistics; health and social care; and sales. These are categories that traditionally consist largely of gig economy workers.

Founded 17 years ago, Gumtree attracts 2.2m site visits each month. The strength of the brand has led Gumtree to introduce a new vertical strategy that recognises the distinct requirements of its users across different categories.

Jobs from Gumtree is the first embodiment of this new strategy that reflects the new vertical-focused positioning adopted recently by Gumtree’s parent company, eBay Classifieds Group.
