Berkshire children’s home shortlisted for three prestigious national awards

Calcot Services for Children (CSfC), a Berkshire-based provider of homes for young people with emotional, learning, social and behavioural difficulties, has been shortlisted for three prestigious national awards.

The provider has been shortlisted for The Employer Award at this year’s National Children & Young People Awards, with managing director Rachel Redgwell receiving a nomination for Outstanding Contribution and Wokingham home The Dingles nominated for Children’s Home Team.

The awards, which take place on 24 October at The ICC in Birmingham, celebrate excellence in care for children, young people and families, showcase innovation and best practice, and pay tribute to those individuals or organisations who excel in quality care provision.

The accolade is the second in four months for The Dingles, which was presented with the Investing in Children Membership Award in late May. The home is rated Outstanding by Ofsted.

Calcot Services for Children (CSfC) was established in 1990 and operates 11 children’s homes and a school based across Berkshire, South Oxfordshire and Hampshire.

The nomination for Rachel Redgwell included: “Rachel has led and supported the growth of CSfC over the last two years to include opening a school, two further homes for children with learning disabilities, a crisis intervention centre and a further home for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. This period of rapid growth has been managed securely and successfully for all those that work at CSfC and the children who reside in their homes

“It is a great privilege to have her as my managing director and I know that this is reiterated throughout the company.”

Rachel Redgwell said: “The whole team at Calcot Services for Children is delighted and humbled to have been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s National Children & Young People Awards. It is a testament to how hard everyone has worked to ensure that the young people we care for receive the best possible love and support while they are with us.

“A special commendation needs to go to the team at The Dingles, who have been recognised for the second time in a short period. Their fantastic work has been identified by Investing in Children and the National Children & Young People Awards, and also by the children living there, who were key contributors to the nominations.

“It’s an honour for us to have been shortlisted and we’re excited to attend the awards ceremony in October.”
