Animmersion elevates Unipres’ VR training
A “significant upgrade” to a virtual reality crane simulator is enhancing training for workers at a Wearside car parts manufacturer.
Middlesbrough’s Animmersion UK has upgraded the training system at Unipres, which makes automotive components for Nissan.
Originally developed in 2016, the simulator enables trainees to practice in a virtual factory environment without disrupting Unipres’ 24/7 production line.
The latest enhancements include the HTC VIVE Focus Vision headset, offering improved visuals, a wider field of view and seamless tracking for more accurate crane control, helping “take immersive training to the next level”.
Andrew Liddell, chief design officer at Animmersion UK, said: “We are excited to enhance our crane training simulator with HTC’s latest headset.
“Our partnership with Unipres began more than nine years ago, when technology dictated that the crane simulator required external sensors, cabling and a PC connection.
“The latest headset eliminates those constraints and delivers a seamless, fully immersive experience.”
Rob Dodds, training academy controller at Unipres (UK), added: “Animmersion UK has been an invaluable partner in our journey to integrate virtual reality into our training programmes.
“This latest upgrade enhances the realism, safety and effectiveness of our training, ensuring our operators develop their skills in the most immersive and risk-free way possible.”
