Buzzacott appoints new managing partner
City of London accountancy and advisory firm Buzzacott has appointed Peter Chapman as managing partner as it continues to pursue growth through its independent partnership model.
Peter succeeds Tony Hopson, who has led the firm for the past eight years.
Having spent 16 years with Buzzacott, Peter has held several senior leadership positions and is a long-standing member of its executive committee.
Peter said: “Today is day one, but it is not a fresh start.
“It is a continuation of something that has served Buzzacott well for more than a century.
“Buzzacott has always succeeded because it has been willing to evolve while staying true to its values.
“Our independence gives us the freedom to think long term, invest where it matters most and make decisions in the best interests of our clients and our people.
“The professional services market is rapidly changing.
“New technologies, including AI, are reshaping how work gets done, while our clients are navigating increasing complexity and uncertainty.
“My focus is to ensure Buzzacott embraces those opportunities, continues to attract exceptional people and remains the firm where talented professionals can build rewarding careers and become future leaders.”
Peter takes the helm at a time of continued consolidation across the UK’s mid-tier professional services sector, with a number of firms pursuing private equity investment or mergers.
Buzzacott, however, remains committed to its independent partnership structure as it enters its next phase of development.
Alongside the leadership change, the firm has announced 67 promotions across the business, including four colleagues progressing to partner.
Tony Hopson, US/UK tax partner and former managing partner, added: “It has been a privilege to lead Buzzacott for the past eight years.
“Together we have grown the firm, invested in our people and made deliberate choices about the future direction of the business.
“Peter has been at the heart of those decisions.
“He combines commercial judgement with a genuine commitment to our people and culture, and I know he will lead the firm with integrity and ambition.
“Buzzacott could not be in better hands.
“I am looking forward to spending more time with my US/UK tax clients while continuing to support the firm in its next chapter.”
