Weber Shandwick has promoted two of its senior management team as it celebrates its most successful year in a 17-year history.

Jessica Wilkinson, recently named Marketing and PR professional of the year at the Manchester Young Talent Awards, has been promoted to Associate Director and leads the corporate team.

Anna Varley Jones was promoted to Associate Director Consumer Marketing and heads up the consumer team at the Castlefield office.

Emlyn Williams, Liverpool Law Society

Emlyn Williams, an Employment Partner at Top 45 Law Firm Weightmans LLP, became President of the Liverpool Law Society on 9th December 2014.

Emlyn, this year’s Vice President, will take on extra responsibilities and will be using his new role to focus on the modern methods of entry into the legal profession. Emlyn said:

“I am delighted to be appointed as the new President of Liverpool Law Society. The Society prides itself on being at the forefront of legal debate across the North West and I am looking forward to playing an integral role in shaping the Society moving forward.

Gerald McHugh, Ian Hazeldine, John Bush, Express Solicitors

Manchester-based personal injury (PI) law firm, Express Solicitors, has strengthened its board with the appointment of two new partners.

Gerald McHugh and Ian Hazeldine, working across strategy and finance respectively, will help the firm continue its expansion and fulfil its goal of achieving £10m turnover within the next 12 months. In addition to the appointment of Gerald and Ian, Express Solicitors has also recruited John Bush as its new finance manager.

James Maxey, managing partner at Express Solicitors said: “We’re delighted to have two more experienced and highly able partners on board to help us push forward and take us to the next level of our ambitious plans.”

Express Solicitors specialises in personal injury and accident claims, clinical negligence claims and serious injury cases and comprises 164 employees including 54 fee earners and 15 partners.

Dan Hyde, GVA

GVA, an independent property company, has further expanded its Retail team with the appointment of former Premiership Rugby Union star, Dan Hyde as a Director in its Manchester office.

With over eight years’ experience in the property industry, Dan’s new role will see him responsible for heading up the Manchester retail team. Duties will include asset management, acquisitions and development appraisals working with developers and retailers both in and out of town. Dan will also be acting on behalf of notable clients including Staples and Smoke Barbeque Restaurant Group

As well as Dan’s vast experience in the property industry, he has also played professional rugby for premiership teams including West Hartlepool RUFC and Leeds Tykes RUFC. Dan is currently a player and coach at the social team Leodensian RUFC.

Charlotte Campbell, Naomi Warren, DTZ

DTZ has welcomed two new graduates to its Manchester office.

In total, 36 graduates have joined DTZ’s UK office network. The graduates kicked off with an induction week at DTZ’s Old Broad Street office in the City of London before joining their respective offices and starting a two-year training programme that will see them gaining experience by rotating around a diverse range of departments.

Joining the Manchester office’s Landlord & Tenant team is Charlotte Campbell whilst Naomi Warren joins the Residential team.

Joanne Maher, Walker Smith Way Legal

Joanne joins Walker Smith Way Legal, based on Chester Street, as solicitor from Fletchers Solicitors where she was a key member of its clinical negligence team.

Joanne specialises in clinical negligence and has already gained a reputation for pursuing compensation for a range of clinical negligence cases including orthopaedics, delayed and misdiagnosis, cosmetic surgery, obstetric injuries, and surgical procedures.

Commenting on the appointment, managing partner at Walker Smith Way Legal, Neil Turnbull, said: “Joanne has extensive experience in the healthcare field so she is well-placed to help those that have experienced a shortfall in care gain the support and compensation they deserve.”

Julia Fearn, Warren Partners

Financial services sector expert Julia Fearn is the latest addition to the team of directors at Northwich, Cheshire based boutique executive search consultancy Warren Partners.

During a career in executive search spanning more than 20 years, Julia has advised challenger brands in the retail banking, building society and insurance sectors on board-level search assignments.

In addition to filling a range of executive and non-executive director roles, she has established a particular strength in Chief Financial Officer search, working with an extensive network of clients across a variety of industry sectors.

Peter Cheung, Accrol Papers

Accrol Papers (Accrol), a manufacturer of soft tissue products, has announced the appointment of Peter Cheung as Non-Executive Chairman.

The Blackburn-based business is one of Europe’s largest independent converters of soft tissue products, with annual turnover exceeding £100m and manufacturing capacity in excess of 80,000 tonnes per annum. It produces a wide range of household and away from home tissue products for leading retailers and service providers from its purpose-built production facilities.
