Manchester United announce partner signing for Tour 2017

Posted by on 20 Mar 2017

Manchester United have signed a new presenting partner for their pre-season tour of the US this summer.

In partnership with risk management and reinsurance firm Aon, the club will play five matches in five American cities, including games in Los Angeles and Washington DC, as part of its Tour 2017.

In their previous two campaigns on US soil, United welcomed over 500k supporters to games across the country, where they are estimated to have as many as 8m followers.

Discussing the club’s summer plans, Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said: “Visiting North America will give the team the best possible preparation for the new season, using top class training facilities and playing in some great stadiums.

“We have witnessed first-hand the passion and support for the Club in the US in recent years, so naturally it is something that everybody is very much looking forward to this summer.“

United first played in America in 1950 as part of a close season tour.

Since then, the club have made a further 14 visits to the country to play against American and Mexican sides, in addition to various European teams.

Aon’s president and CEO, Greg Case, commented: “We are pleased to partner with Manchester United as the Club makes its return to the United States for Tour 2017.

“In the US, and around the world, we work with organizations to empower results by reducing volatility and finding opportunities to improve performance.“

He continued: “Like Manchester United, we believe that success requires a compelling strategy, strong execution and above all, leadership. We look forward to supporting the club on their journey to greatness.“

MUFC said further details regarding the two-week tour, including opposition teams, stadia and ticketing, will be announced in the next few days.
