Informnorth shortlisted for best in North East

A not-for-profit magazine in its fourth year of business is celebrating its recent success at being shortlisted for a prestigious award. Informnorth Magazine, a freely available publication produced and distributed throughout all parts of North East England as a social enterprise, has been put up for the title of ‘Best Magazine’ at this year’s Tom Cordner North East Press Awards.

Ruth Cabourne, informnorth’s newly appointed Business Development Officer said: “For such a small team to be recognised amongst the best in our field and short-listed at the awards for the first time is great. It’s nice to be in contention for prizes because that is a significant achievement in itself, no matter what the results on the night.

“As a business with a strong social conscience we work closely with our partners to help raise aspiration levels and drive up enterprise, self development and business start up levels so we’re totally unique. Informnorth magazine is produced six times a year which gives us an excellent shelf life, but because award entrants are judged on just six issues it also means that we had to send in every issue of the magazine from last year and never had the luxury to ‘cherry pick’ just the best ones, so we’re pleased to be in the running.”

Broadcaster Jeremy Vine is the guest speaker at the Cordner awards night on 12 May at Newcastle Civic Centre when the winners will be announced. To find out more about informnorth and their partners visit www.informnorth.com or call Lindsey Wood on 0191 5866 010.
