eaga funding creates jobs

Green support services company eaga has today announced its intention to build on expansion plans with the creation of an additional 270.

The development plans come after regional development agency One NorthEast granted Newcastle-based eaga £1.15m as part of its Selective Finance for Investment (SFI) scheme.

A string of recent contract wins have accelerated eaga’s expansion and this funding will help ensure it can keep recruiting and retaining skilled staff needed to manage the growth.

Jobs will be created across eaga’s North-East operations, which already employ more than 1,200 staff.

Last month eaga announced a partnership with Scottish Power worth £200 million to manage the energy giant’s entire Government-set Carbon Emission Reduction Target (CERT). Earlier in the year the BBC awarded eaga the Digital Switchover Help Scheme contract to help elderly and disabled households make the switch from analogue to digital.

John Clough MBE, eaga Chief Executive, said: “This is a significant investment from One NorthEast, not only in eaga but I believe in the region as a whole. As our business expands and we diversify into new areas the funding will help us continue to develop a strong and sustainable business which is rooted right here in the North East.

“The success of any organisation rests on the quality and strength of its staff and being able to attract and keep the right people is crucial. I am grateful to One NorthEast for their support.”
