Newcastle firm teaches kids a new lesson

A North East business has embarked on a national campaign to promote their new learning product - gcsepod.

gcsepod has been developed by Soundbitelearning UK Ltd as a way for students to learn and revise for their GCSEs through using portable devices.

Bite-size learning and revision modules can be downloaded from the internet to a computer, iPod or mobile phone, enabling education anywhere. As well as offering an alternative learning method, the gcsepod service has also created five full time and over 20 part time employment positions within the local economy, plus a further 10 part time positions nationally.

Anthony Coxon, Director of Soundbitelearning UK Ltd, said: “We have enjoyed such tremendous levels of support from an entire host of industry bodies, commercial organisations and investment agencies here in the North East, that I don’t think would have been available in any other region of the country.

“Assistance has stemmed from, but isn’t limited to: North East Finance; North East Equity Matching Fund (NEEMF) Ward Hadaway; British Internet Broadcasting Company (BiBC); Sage; Codeworks; ONE North East; Business Link and Roundhouse Design.

“At this launch stage, we at Soundbitelearning now feel in a position to further stimulate the technology sector here in Newcastle through our association with them.

“The gcsepod service aims to provide students with an easy, straightforward and hopefully entertaining way to wade through endless studying and revision. What’s more, it’s also a great excuse for teenagers to put an iPod on their wish list this Christmas!”

gcsepod currently covers the subjects of English Language, Religious Studies, History and Geography, but plans are in the works to expand into English Literature, Science, Maths, French and Design and Technology.
