Northern Print artists receive support from local businesses

Northern Print has announced a number of new business partnerships coinciding with the launch of one of its most varied exhibitions to date - Northern Footprints - which opens to the public on 14 November.

Following the introduction of the ‘Purchase Prize’ scheme in 2007 - where businesses have the first opportunity to select and buy their favourite pieces of work from the exhibition - Northern Print has opened up this offer once again.

Sponsors already signed up include Chromazone, Hall & Partners, Peter Weldon & Co, Reid Framing, The Solution Group and Bishop Skinner Insurance Brokers - four of which take part for the second year running.

Adam Lopardo, Director of The Sponsor’s Club for Arts & Business, will be announcing the sponsors’ chosen artists at Northern Print’s special preview event on 13 November.

Adam said: “Having art in the office makes a statement to two important groups - clients and staff. Art helps build a quality welcoming environment for visitors and staff as well as stimulating creativity in staff. In addition, these businesses are buying work by regional artists from a regional arts organisation and reaching far wider than just the workplace. They are helping sustain a vibrant creative community in the North East which impacts on where we all live, not just where their staff work and clients visit.”

Northern Print Director, Anna Wilkinson, said: “It’s great to see more and more businesses supporting this work through the Purchase Prize scheme. “We would just urge any interested parties to contact the gallery in advance of the public opening on the 14th to ensure they can get their hands of their favourite pieces before they get snapped up.”

‘Northern Footprints’ is open to the public from 14 November - 20 December 2008. Admission is free. To find out more, visit www.northernprint.org.uk or call 0191 261 7000.
