TED inspires a new generation

A new mobile classroom has been launched in Redcar and Cleveland to inspire the next generation of youngsters in the borough.

The Redcar and Cleveland enterprise team has launched the Technology and Enterprise Den, or TED, to be used as a learning resource primary school pupils in the fields of technology and enterprise.

Ted was recently featured on BBC’s the One Show as part of its pre-launch visit to the British Inventors Show at London’s Alexandra Palace in October.

Craig Jones, Education Coordinator with Redcar and Cleveland said: “The enterprise team is committed to developing the enterprise culture in Redcar and Cleveland through a wide variety of educational resources and activities. We are delighted that local children will have access to a truly unique addition to their schools and understand the importance of science, technology and enterprise in shaping the future of our borough.”

The mobile classroom is the latest addition to the range of existing resources available, including the Primary Science Unit, a similar science based mobile classroom already in use.

“The Redcar and Cleveland enterprise team continue to deliver enterprising projects which deliver for people within the borough,” said Cllr Mark Hannon, Cabinet Member for Economic Development at Redcar and Cleveland Council. “Ted has already proved a success during its tenure at the British Inventors Show and I look forward to seeing the mobile classroom in and around schools in the area delivering the important message of technology and enterprise to pupils.”
