Red Kite soars with Beacon
A North East design agency is celebrating after one of its projects won a national marketing award.
Beacon Creative has designed bus liveries for Go North East for the last three years, including brands such as The Angel, Prince Bishops and CityLink.
One of these, the ‘Red Kite’ brand, recently won the CBS Outdoor Bus Marketing Campaign of the Year award.
Phil Moore, Creative Director for Beacon Creative, said: “We are delighted that one of the brand identities we have created has been recognised for such an award. Generally, the branded bus liveries have been exciting projects for our creative team to tackle and our designs have helped communicate the different routes in a quirky and bright fashion.”
The Red Kite bus was the result of a partnership between Go North East and conservation project Northern Kites, who have successfully brought red kites back to the region after an absence of more than 170 years.
Martin Harris, Commercial Director with Go North East, said: “Our branded liveries have really helped passengers take a pride in their local services and means buses can be easily identified anywhere on the route.
“The designs have certainly brightened up bus travel and passenger numbers on our Red Kite services were up more than 5% last year compared to the previous year.”
