Thousands compete to win a trip to the Toon
Entries have been pouring in from around the country to enter a competition to win a trip to Newcastle - the ‘greatest city in the world’ - courtesy of Newcastle Brown Ale.
Last year Newcastle Brown Ale introduced a limited edition ‘I*NE’ bottle designed to encourage Geordies and drinkers across the country to celebrate all that is great about the city.
In conjunction with this, the bottles also feature the chance to win an all expenses paid trip for two to Newcastle.
Since the launch of the competition at the beginning of October Newcastle Brown Ale has been inundated with entries from over 5,000 drinkers around the country hoping to win the much sought after trip.
John Edwards, marketing director for Newcastle Brown Ale, said: “Newcastle Brown Ale and its blue star logo - The Star of the North - is recognised around the world and is an icon and a beacon for the city. It is very proud of its roots and its heritage and we know that our drinkers share this pride and passion for both the drink and the city, which is why they are so keen to experience it for themselves.”
Drinkers were given the option of entering the competition via text, post or online, with an overwhelming majority of entries being received via text message.
John continued: “There have been lots of world class developments in and around Newcastle in the past decade and this, coupled with the city’s proud history steeped in innovation and industry, makes it a great time to visit and really focus on celebrating all that is unique about it.
“There are many experiences to be had in Newcastle and the competition offers drinkers the chance to sample some traditional Geordie hospitality.”
