Tourism industry winners back distribution event
Tourism businesses in Tyne and Wear are being encouraged to pull together and communicate to beat the recession.
Distribution 2009 is an event organised by Tourism Tyne and Wear and will bring together local tourism businesses, encouraging them to exchange promotional material, share ideas, and talk about upcoming events and current industry issues.
Paul Szomoru, Business Relationship Manager from Tourism Tyne and Wear, said; “We’ve had encouraging response from the industry with businesses of all sizes really getting behind the idea.
“During this difficult economic period it is more important than ever for businesses to communicate and support one another, Distribution is a great opportunity to do just that.”
The event takes place on Thursday 12 March at Gateshead International Stadium.
Winners from the 2008 North East Tourism Awards are also backing this year’s event. Linda Conlon, Chief Executive of Centre for Life, Large Visitor Attraction of the Year at the awards, said; “This is a fantastic chance for businesses to circulate their information within the wider tourism business community.
“Distribution will allow businesses to not only promote themselves, but to network, build relationships and partnerships. Ultimately this is key to ensuring tourism grows despite the recession. We are pleased to offer our support and would advise all that can to take part.”
