Small businesses get more out of banks
Bank lending to small businesses increased in February, according to figures released by the British Bankers Association (BBA).
The BBA statistics show that high street banks’ lending to SMEs increased by £211m in February compared to the previous months figures.
BBA statistics director, David Dooks, said: “Lending to the 3.8m small businesses supported by the main high street banks rose again in February and significant numbers of new small business relationships continue to be established, despite the current recession and regular reports of difficult business conditions.”
Banks contributing to this survey include Abbey, Alliance & Leicester, Lloyds Banking Group, Barclays, Clydesdale, Yorkshire Bank, HSBC, HBOS, The Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest and The Co-operative Bank.
