Adam Blenkinsop, Head of Digital Services, takes us behind the scenes of r//evolution

r//evolution is a highly creative and dynamic full service marketing agency providing high quality design, digital communications, PR and marketing. We pride ourselves in thinking differently – creating unique and original marketing communications.

Adam Blenkinsop heads up the digital services team and answers bdaily’s questions:

What key challenges has your company recently faced?

r//evolution is a small but growing business and although this year has been one of its best to date the economy is still not growing in the upwards way we all wish it to. r//evolution is continuing to grow through difficult economic times and while many businesses face budget cuts we have been able to switch and change our focus to concentrate new business activities on companies and organisations who we can help grow and evolve their marketing efforts, on and offline.

What is your biggest achievement over the past 12 months?

Over the past twelve months we have developed a really strong portfolio of e-commerce website that are both optimised and highly functional for the user. It’s really great to be able to make a demonstrable impact in clients’ businesses.

What is your biggest focus for the coming year?

With ambitious growth targets this year, I hope to see the business double in size this year and continue to develop the talent we have in house. I want to see the business moving forwards and keeping up with industry standards and advances and passing these onto our clients. I also want to see us working for larger organisations, making an evident difference to their business.

If you had to choose one top piece of advice for someone just starting out in business, or is currently operating within your industry sector, what would it be?

When you’re starting out in business make sure you’re doing something that you really enjoy and are passionate about. You’ll be spending a lot of time working in your chosen area of business and if you don’t really love what you’re doing it’s going to be much harder to motivate yourself and dedicate the amount of time that you’ll need to get things off the ground. If you’re looking to get into the digital marketing industry, I would suggest work placements while you are studying, so that you have a good grasp on the industry before you enter it as a graduate, or with your qualifications. This way, you’ll also have some great references and examples of work to show potential employers.

Can you share with us your view of the current landscape of business, in this region or generally and where your organisation sits within it?

The business landscape is still looking quite rocky, especially regionally. There’s certainly no such thing as easy money but if you’re prepared to work hard and go the extra mile you’ll get through it. At the same time, it’s a very exciting time to be involved in business. The current climate demands businesses and business practices to change and adapt to the new challenges we’re coming up against every day. Even in these difficult times we’re managing to grow which is great for us as a business and we’ll be looking to push on over the coming months.
