Viridor expands through acquisition of JWT Holdings Limited
Viridor has completed the acquisition of Manchester based recycling and collection business JWT Waste Services.
National recycling, renewable energy and waste management company Viridor has purchased Manchester based JWT Waste Services to widen its area of operation across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.
JWT, based in Atherton, Greater Manchester, specialise in recycling and collection of waste. The company, whose 45 staff handle around 70,000 tonnes of material per annum, operates a Materials Recycling Facility and a fleet of 29 vehicles which will be incorporated into the operations currently carried out by Viridor in the region.
John Thomasson from JWT Waste Services said “I am delighted that Viridor has been able to secure the acquisition of JWT. This is good news for our employees, customers, suppliers and all other stakeholders in the business, and will allow the business to grow.”
With its northern headquarters in Bolton, Viridor already operate recycling and waste services to Manchester companies including MediaCityUK, Manchester United and Kelloggs and hold the Greater Manchester household waste contract.
Viridor’s northern regional director John Viviani said: “JWT is a quality local recycling and waste management business and offers good synergies with our existing business in the North West. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues and to providing existing and new customers with a continued high quality service.”
