Making a Personal Injury Claim
Millions of people a year are injured in accidents, many of which occur in the workplace. Unfortunately, in a lot of these cases, the victim is not at fault, and under these circumstances, they have a right to make a claim in order to be compensated for loss of earnings, healthcare or trauma. Dealing with a solicitor and the legal side of things might seem like a daunting prospect for most people, but it is often more straightforward than you might think.
Your work accident claim can easily be dealt with by a specialist solicitor who will take you through the whole process start to finish, and make things much easier for you. What’s more is that you often do not have to pay any fees for the service, as solicitor costs are recovered from the party at fault.
It’s important to find a good solicitor to help with work accident compensation, and the internet is the best resource for this. A specialist accident claim solicitor is always the best choice, because they will know best how to proceed with your claim, and are likely to be cheaper than a local solicitor’s office. Always check reviews and make sure that the solicitor you choose is reputable.
Once you’ve found a solicitor, they will need a few bits of information from you before they can get started. If you’ve had an accident at work, and are looking to talk to a solicitor, then make sure you have the following information to hand, as it will help to speed up the process:
- Date of the accident– Exactly when, and if possible what time, did your accident happen?
- Description of the accident– Being as clear and as accurate as possible, you need to give an account of exactly what happened, including all relevant information.
- Contact details for any witnesses –Give as much information as possible, as this will help to speed up your claim.
- Injury details –How were you injured, and how has this affected you?
- Proof of any lost earnings or expenses –Use statements, receipts and payslips to prove you require financial compensation.
- Any other supporting evidence –This could include anything from photos to CCTV recordings of the accident or its effect on you.
With this information, a good solicitor will be able to give you more information about whether or not you have grounds for a claim, and what you might be able to receive in compensation. If you decide to proceed with their services, they will then deal with the claim going forward. Always try to get as much information as possible from the solicitor before you agree to use their services – if they won’t explain their fees clearly then walk away. Many good solicitors will offer a no win no fee service so that means you’ll never have to pay a penny to get your compensation.
Remember, if you’ve had an accident at work that wasn’t your fault, then you’re entitled to claim back for anything you may have lost.
