EXPect more EXPOsure from new business

The partnership behind the hugely successful North East Expo free business to business days is expanding the concept, with a string of new events in the pipeline ranging from the worlds of food to fashion.

Marc Gordon from Framwellgate Moor who runs Network North is currently planning the next North East Expo with fellow co-ordinator Andrew Charlton. Andrew enjoyed events organisation so much he gave up his former job with BACK Consulting to start Exposure Events. The next North East Expo will be at Newcastle Racecourse on November 7 and this year the event proves to be bigger and better than ever before.

In addition to business trade a stand, speakers and workshops, this year’s free to attend North East Expo will also include a food section and a green section for the first time.

Food at the Expo, put together by regional food group Taste North East, will bring 30 local food stands to the event, while the Daisy Green Events-organised Eco at the Expo will include 40 environmental stands plus guest speakers.

In all, the whole day – business, food and environment – will pull together 260 trade stands plus expert business and motivational speakers. On the agenda this year are ITV’s Biggest Loser Kevin McLernon, from Sunderland, former world champion boxer Glenn McCrory, from County Durham, internet expert Darren Williams, and Ahmed Khan, who runs five McDonald’s franchises in the North East.

Mr Charlton said: “Marc and I are creating a really diverse event by bringing other partner organisations on board that will fit into the Expo concept we’ve created.”

Mr Charlton, from Broomhill in Northumberland, is now planning to take the Expo model on the road to venues including Brighton, Bristol, Glasgow and Bolton.

Exposure Events are also organising 12 Flipping Networking – or flipchart networking events across the north of England and is looking to expand the Expo model further with events aimed at other business and consumer sectors in 2013.

Mr Charlton said: “There really is a market for this type of event, putting businesses in touch with their peers and potential customers, both here in the North East and across the UK.”

We’ve found a model that works and I’m confident all sorts of Expos will soon be running nationwide. Already we have 1800 people booked to attend and there is still space for more.“

As well as event organising, Mr Charlton has also recently launched the Walking the Front charity to raise cash to provide grants and loans to ex-servicemen and women in the region.
