Bring out the retail innovators

Particularly as the plight of Comet makes headlines, retail news seems to have entrenched itself in gloom.

Other big high street names such as Clinton Cards, Game and JJB Sports have all gone. Now Dixons claim they will benefit from Comet’s demise, but have just posted losses themselves.

John Lewis boss, Andy Street, has previously laid out how he believes the game has changed. He said consumers now want to look a products in a store format, but also want to purchase online. The overheads for this are surely prohibitive to anybody but the big groups. So, how can more retailers innovate to strike a balance?
