Media displays gives clients option to buy

The UK’s largest mobile digital screen provider, Media Displays of Horbury, West Yorkshire, has expanded its offering by selling its popular ad-vans as well as hiring out the vehicles.

Ian Taylor, Media Displays managing director, says that the move followed an intense period of research and client consultation: “We spent a lot of time considering how to bring more flexibility and cost-effectiveness to our services, interrogating ideas with both feasibility studies and customer feedback.

“This revealed strong demand for buying digi-vehicles. For those who use ad-vans frequently, the purchase option caters for individual requirements and supports long term planning.”

One of these, Kettering Borough Council, trialled a digital messaging vehicle last summer that proved immediately popular with the public and very easy-to-use. Following this, it recently purchased a mobile system to support a wide variety of events, including screenings of movies and sporting fixtures, interactive gaming for children, promotion of future events and raising public awareness.

Guy Holloway, head of IT and communications at the Council, commented: “As we want to use an ad-van intensively, we consulted Ian who could see that it would reduce costs to procure rather than repeatedly hire one. He spent time gaining a thorough understanding of what we wanted to use the digital screen for and what we wanted to get out of it, giving us recommendations not only on how to use the kit, but also some creative ideas on how we could make it work even harder for us.”

Media Displays was established in 2004 by Ian Taylor, who appeared on Dragons’ Den six years later, when he received an £80,000 investment offer from James Caan. The company’s product portfolio includes digi-vans, digi-bikes, pods and static screens.
