Software specialist celebrates $300,000 US contract win
A Sunderland software company has won a $300,000 contract to install and maintain a bespoke warehousing management system for a large US manufacturing facility.
OnePoint Systems, a software development company specialising in custom office management systems, has been quietly growing its US order book for a number of years from its headquarters at Quay West Business Village on Sunderland’s riverside.
The new contract is the latest in a number of substantial warehouse systems orders the company has won in the USA this year alone, with more expected to follow in the coming months.
OnePoint Systems is taking on two new software developers to add to its team of 14 to help deliver the contract.
Now OnePoint Systems is hoping to utilise its vast experience of developing, installing and maintaining custom software solutions for USA projects and expand into the local market by helping North East businesses utilise software to streamline systems and processes.
OnePoint Systems managing director Jason Brown is confident the experience gained from developing software projects for American clients will allow the company to fulfil any custom software project required by North East businesses.
Jason said: “The latest contract win is fantastic news for OnePoint Systems and further testament to the skills of our in-house development and support team.
“The majority of our work to date has been producing complex bespoke software systems for large American companies and facilities. We have built up an excellent reputation in the US for being able to swiftly and efficiently deliver custom-build projects and it is this experience we now want to apply to North East businesses.
“A lot of smaller businesses might not even be aware that they need software but it is a fact that software is playing an increasingly fundamental part in almost all industries.
“Most businesses do not realise the massive impact even the simplest software package can have on their internal processes and systems, saving time and money and with the added incentive of funds of up to 40% available for qualifying businesses to help integrate software solutions, there hasn’t been a better time to investigate such projects.”
The company has been supported for a number of years by Sunderland Software City, and credits the initiative with supporting its rapid growth and success in both foreign and domestic markets.
Jason said: “We have received valuable support form Sunderland Software City over the course of the last few years, and that support has played a big part in OnePoint’s success.
“Not only have they helped us with the recruitment of skilled developers, marketing and advice on business planning and sales, they are integral to the success of the North East’s software economy as a whole, a fantastic advocate that is making the UK, and the rest of the world, sit up and pay attention to our home-grown software talent.”
David Dunn, Sunderland Software City Chief Executive said: “OnePoint Systems is a prime example of how businesses in the North East are having an impact on the global software market.
“As well as flying the flag for North East software in the US, Jason and the team at OnePoint Systems are providing a valuable contribution to the regional economy, creating jobs and helping other local businesses to exploit the extensive benefits software can bring.
“Jason is a fantastic ambassador for the North East’s software industry and we look forward to continuing to work with OnePoint Systems as the company continues to grow.”
