TechSmith corporation reveals phase one of new initiative

TechSmith helps users collaborate by integrating Google platform into offerings

The way people in the workforce and in education are collaborating is constantly evolving. An individual may work on several different devices, with numerous groups of people and at varying locations, all in the course of one day. One project may be locked on a device or platform until its owner can return to it, finish it and share it with others, hindering productivity. According to a SalesForce.com study, 96 percent of executives blame lack of collaboration and poor communication for workplace failures.

To help existing and new customers to remain productive and collaborative, TechSmith Corporation, a leader in visual communication software, has integrated Snagit into the Google platform as part of a larger initiative. This is the first phase of the company’s mission to introduce a new era of visual collaboration, and includes Google Drive Integration for TechSmith products, Snagit and Camtasia, as well as the newly announced TechSmith Snagit for Google Chrome.

“TechSmith believes in visual conversations,” said William Hamilton, founder and president of TechSmith. “We believe sharing images helps remove confusion and facilitate understanding. Google, with its Chromebooks and Drive platform, is a naturally collaborative environment that we see as a great fit for our solutions now and into the future.”

More than 30 million students, faculty and staff are using Google Apps for Education and more than 5 million businesses are using Google Apps for Business, which now has access to TechSmith offerings. With the TechSmith products and the Google Platform, users can share knowledge, work together and learn from one another by:

Providing Personalized Feedback - Capture the documents or presentations your students or coworkers are working on and easily share feedback for review wherever they are.

Keeping Everyone in the Loop - Take a quick screenshot of a paper or project you are working on, add notes and send to coworkers, your superiors or third parties.

Getting the Most out of Your Google Drive™ - View, markup and manage your captures anywhere, thanks to the deep integration Snagit for Google Chrome has with Google Drive.

“Screencapture has always been challenging for young students because it involves several steps that are disconnected from each other,” said Sean Williams, Innovation Strategist. “This new platform from TechSmith enables students to simply snap the content they want and it saves to Drive, creating a workflow that is easy, efficient and encourages collaboration.”

The integration with Google will enable teachers to assign their students homework, where student could capture an image, explain why they chose it and upload it to Google Drive to easily share with the rest of the class. Alternatively, professionals can efficiently capture presentations ahead of meetings in their Chrome browser, annotate it with questions for their colleagues, and upload it to Google Drive to obtain their feedback.

With these offerings, TechSmith is empowering its users to become even more successful – and the company’s renewed promise to its customers is just getting started!
