Manchester United team up with Google+ to launch new fan experience

Manchester United are working with Google+ to provide a new interactive live experience during the forthcoming match against Liverpool at Old Trafford

The club has teamed up with Google+ to launch what it calls ‘a historic Front Row campaign’, offering a select group of its international fanbase the opportunity to have a virtual presence at the stadium- no matter where they are in the world.

This will be the first time this has ever happened at a football match.

On Sunday 16 March 2014 for our home game against Liverpool, United fans will have the opportunity to cheer on the team, appearing via live Google+ Hangout – a free, multi-person video call feature – on Old Trafford’s pitchside digital hoardings.

Throughout the match, Front Row supporters will be able to share in the atmosphere of being at Old Trafford, joining 75,000 ticket holders physically attending the game - and fellow Front Row participants from across the globe. The procedure involves applicants sharing a picture on Google+ that, according to the club, ‘showcases love, passion and commitment to United’, along with the hashtag #MUFrontRow.

A shortlist of potential participants will be drawn up, the successful applicants will make history, cheering on the Reds among the very first Front Row fans in world football. Each Front Row participant will receive professional photographs of their appearance, as well as a welcome on United’s Google+ page, shared with nearly two million followers.
