SONE ventures into e-cigarette sector with three year contract
SONE Products Ltd (SONE), is optimistic after it announced it had won a contract to supply the growing e-cigarette market.
SONE, which offers a complete range of services for the design, manufacture and assembly of innovative application solutions in plastic packaging, has been awarded a three-year contract to supply bottles, caps and dropper plugs to new customer, The E-liquid Company (NW) Ltd.
The supply agreement will see SONE use its in-house processing capabilities to manufacture an estimated 1 million packs per year.
Based in Blackburn, The E-liquid Company which supplies e-liquid for refillable electronic cigarettes, is a relative newcomer to an industry which is experiencing rapid growth. Such is the anticipated increase in this market that market research company *Euromonitor, estimates by 2050 that a full 4% of the global smoking market will have switched over to e-cigarettes.
This latest order builds on SONE’s experience of working for clients in healthcare, a sector the manufacturer continues to target as part of its business development strategy.
From the outset SONE has been able to work closely with The E-liquid Company, helping to identify the needs of the company and those which relate to both product and market requirements, thereby delivering a bespoke solution.
According to SONE’s business development manager, Tony Burnell, adopting this approach enabled SONE to take a standard re-fill pack and refine it, leading to improvements in both product performance and importantly, the end user experience. He said:
“Securing this three year supply agreement is excellent news. Our ability to take an holistic approach is welcomed by our clients, as we are able to provide them with added value services across aspects of their products including design, manufacture and assembly.
“We are looking forward to being able to build and strengthen in this sector at some point later in the year.”
Speaking about appointing SONE, Suhail Virmani, The E-Liquid Company’s Director, commented:
“Working with the SONE team we achieved a bottle design that’s unique. The development process was a fantastic journey and the resulting pack will be a game changer in our market. Also, the fact that SONE manufactures products in the UK fits really well with our own ‘home grown’ approach. We are very impressed overall with the company’s people and its operation.’
The first re-fill packs are expected to roll off production during March.
