Waltons Clark Whitehill harnesses the power of the smart phone

Waltons Clark Whitehill, the Tees Valley based firm of chartered accountants and business advisers, is using clients’ phones to help make sure they keep their business affairs in order.

The firm has launched an app which links up with the diaries on clients’ smart phones to deliver reminders of impending deadlines and other important dates, to help ensure crucial documents and information is filed on time.

Additionally, the app opens up new avenues of communication between the Tees Valley-based firm and its clients, which can be received on the go, including HMRC payment amounts and dates for their business and personal tax affairs.

The app has been developed in-house, initially for iOS devices, after the firm realised that tax adviser Martin Ray already had the innovative skills required for the project.

Paul Harrison, Partner at Waltons Clark Whitehill, said: “We like to think a little differently about the ways we support our clients. Whilst many businesses have apps nowadays, we found that most were purely abridged versions of their business websites. Ours is different and allows us to communicate directly with our clients in modern ways that they now want to embrace. With the growth of smart phone and tablet usage, it made sense to look into how we could harness that technology for the good of our clients and create closer connections. Indeed, it sits perfectly next to our cloud accounting packages and information exchange portals that we offer to clients.”

“We have had a good response from clients who have tried the app and we believe that, as such apps take greater hold on the way people use the internet, there is scope for even greater use of this technology in the future.”
