Entrepreneurial Mum unveils new boys t-shirt label Tigershark

An entrepreneurial mum has officially launched her exciting new boys t-shirt range business, all thanks to her young son Charlie who asked her to get him a ’cool t-shirt’.

Tigershark Apparel Ltd, which opened its doors to business on March 21st 2014, is an innovative new spin on t-shirt design which combines fashion with education for children aged 5-11. Anna Fairs, a single Mum from Hampshire came up with the idea when her son was frustrated he couldn’t find any t-shirts he liked.

Fed up with all of the superhero and tv-character designs that flooded the boys fashion market, Anna decided to create Charlie his own range of t-shirts, drawing on images linked to what he was learning at school. After some research and conversations with other mothers Anna realised that there was a gap in the market for her idea, and so the journey began!

Despite having no previous retail experience, Anna researched the market and got in touch with Retail Champion Clare Rayner. Clare became her mentor and helped her to work out her route to market as well as connected her with a graphic designer who brought her ideas to life…

Tigershark Apparel Ltd will launch initially with six different designs made with boys in mind. They include images of the solar system, a Minotaur, a centipede, a stag beetle, a spitfire and dinosaurs. All the t-shirts are designed and printed in the UK from 100% cotton and are excellent quality, ring spun and pre-shrunk. They come in sizes 5-6, 7-8 and 9-11 and are reasonably priced at just £10.00.

Anna comments,

“I can’t believe that a moment of fun and imaginative play with my son Charlie has resulted in me launching a brand new company! It’s been a challenge to get to grips with everything that comes with starting up a new business, but I’ve had some great support and I’m thrilled with the end product. I hope that people will love the t-shirts just as much as Charlie does!”
