Anthony O’Connor Recruits Two To Management Team
With the upturn in the property and construction sector resulting in a surge of new enquiries for Salford-based Anthony O’Connor & Sons, the business has expanded its management team with the appointment of Nicola Hodges as Contracts Manager, and Stuart Barlow as Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.
With almost twenty years of experience under her belt already, 36 year-old Nicola Hodges brings a fresh approach to the family business, specialising in demolition, excavation and recycling of materials. Her career to date includes purchasing and commercial management roles within the construction industry, specialising in demolition and decommission works.
Nicola’s role as Contracts Manager at Anthony O’Connor & Sons will involve sourcing new clients, whilst maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing ones. In addition, Nicola will be required to attend site visits at all stages of the varying projects carried out by the business, predominantly as demolition contractors.
As Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, Stuart Barlow will be driving forward the division that Anthony O’Connor prides itself on, with the business having already established a high reputation for being at the forefront of implementing environmentally friendly procedures and use of machinery. With experience gained in similar roles for organisations including Willmott Dixon Construction and Skanska UK, Stuart brings a huge amount of expertise for the specialised role within the business, which he has delved in to, since joining the business.
Stuart will ensure continued investment into the latest technology and machinery, maintaining an exemplary safety record to provide clients with an unsurpassed partnership in every aspect of the projects AOC will be involved in. He will also be the point of contact for onsite external training requests that AOC have been approached for frequently of late, including fire safety training for Salford Fire & Rescue Service at the Labour Employment Exchange on Aytoun Street which AOC have started work on recently.
Internally, one of Stuart’s responsibilities will be to devise a development plan for each employee providing up-to-date training and qualifications, and ensuring that every project has the relevant documentation including method statements and risk assessments prior to commencing any work.
Anthony O’Connor & Sons’ Contracts Director, Luke Roche, told us “With the high-profile work we’ve done recently including dismantling the Dock Cranes at Salford Quays, our services are increasingly in demand by leading construction firms and property developers all over the country, so it is essential we have a competent team in place. Nicola and Stuart have already settled in to the business, making a positive impression on our clients, and we’re delighted to have them both on board.”
