Local travel agent supports ‘National Work from Home Day’
Whitley Bay based travel agent Lizzie Adamson-Brown is supporting a special ‘Work from Home’ day on Friday 16 May, which encourages flexible working practices and highlights the benefits of running a business remotely.
Lizzie runs her own leisure and corporate travel business from home as part of leading independent travel company Travel Counsellors, which supports over 800 franchisees like Lizzie in the UK and a further 500 overseas.
She says; “I think ‘National Work from Home Day’ is a great way to highlight the many benefits of flexible working for everyone involved. Running my own business from home means I can be available for my customers outside of normal working hours, providing an exceptional leisure and corporate travel service and taking the time to get to know my customers personally. It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to be available to my customers when they need me, and manage the balance between my work and family life successfully too.”
Now in its 9th year, the national day, which is part of Work Wise UK’s ‘Work Wise Week’, encourages smarter working practices such as flexible, remote and mobile working. As part of this event the company recently conducted a survey* of its own agents revealing that their average commute before joining the company was over six hours per week, culminating to nearly a fortnight spent travelling per year.
Launched in 1994, Travel Counsellors was one of the first companies in the UK to enable the very best travel professionals like Lizzie to run their own travel business from home, providing customers with a unique level of personal service. The concept has proven a huge success, with the company now operating across eight countries and most recently being recognised with the 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its international growth.
Lizzie adds: “With fellow Travel Counsellors across the world and the latest technology, I can speak to my colleagues across the globe at the click of a button, sharing the knowledge and expertise of over 1,300 travel professionals with my customers. I really feel that I am able to enjoy the many benefits highlighted by ‘National Work from Home Day’ including no daily commute and a better work/life balance, but it also means I have more time to focus on tailor making the perfect holidays to suit my clients.”
Working remotely using Travel Counsellors’ award winning technology, Lizzie can search through hundreds of suppliers to tailor-make trips to specifically suit her customers’ needs and is available at a time to suit them, meaning unlike high street agencies, Lizzie can be contacted during the evenings and weekends.
