Academia supports anti-bullying charity, Young Pioneers

Academia, a leading technology solutions provider, is proud to announce that it is working with anti-bullying charity, Young Pioneers. As a full affinity and development partner, Academia will act exclusively as the charity’s Apple Solutions Expert.

Young Pioneers, a charity founded by UK’s youngest voluntary sector chief executive, Luke Lancaster, has developed a ‘Using Technology to Drive Change’ programme. Using Apple devices supplied by Academia, the scheme aims to show pupils, teachers and the general public how iPads and iPhones can be used to manage their health, improve teaching and develop exciting learning outcomes in the classroom.

Luke’s tireless work to help thousands of young victims of bullying was recently recognised by Prime Minister, David Cameron, who presented him with the new ‘Points of Light’ award. Established by President George H.W. Bush, the award was developed in partnership with the successful Points of Light programme in the USA, which has recognised over 5,000 individuals. President Barack Obama has publicly supported the partnership with Points of Light UK.

“Volunteering through Young Pioneers’ projects not only builds young bullying victim’s self-confidence and self-esteem, but it provides a pathway to employment and creates social action opportunities that enable young people to volunteer and make a difference to the lives of others,” comments, Luke Lancaster, founder of Young Pioneers. “Schemes such as our ‘Using Technology to Drive Change’ programme equip young people with the technology skills they need for the future. With the support of Academia we will be extending this programme and launching an online portal that will donate funds to support more vulnerable young people.”

Mark McCormack, Public Sector Director at Academia, said; “Academia are proud to be working in partnership with Young Pioneers as the charity’s exclusive Apple Solutions Expert. We’ve worked with Young Pioneers for over five years and have enjoyed helping them develop Apple technologies in the classroom. With so many possibilities to improve learning outcomes through the use of Apple mobile devices, such as iPad, Young Pioneers have embraced the Apple ecosystem. We’ve jointly developed a teaching and learning platform that children can engage with allowing a 24/7 learning environment that is fun, but also sustains a long term educational strategy.”
