Care boss short-listed for national award

The boss of a North-East home care company is in the running for a prestigious national award that recognises the work of franchise business in the UK.

Charles Folkes, Managing Director of Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland), has been shortlisted for the British Franchise Association (BFA) Franchisee of the Year Award.

He is a finalist in the over-55 category of ‘Olderpreneur’, which is aimed at individuals whose wealth of experience has seen them make a big impact in their chosen franchise.

If he wins the category, which will involve giving a presentation to a panel of judges in July, he will join the winners of five other categories competing for the overall Franchisee of the Year title later in the year.

Mr Folkes said: “I am delighted to have been shortlisted as a category finalist in the category for these prestigious franchise awards.

“In the six years since setting up Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland) we have experienced tremendous growth and the quality of the service we provide to our customers is second to none.

“Whilst I have been short-listed for this award, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have to date without the support of a fantastic, highly experienced staff team, so this is just as much about them.”

The British Franchise Awards, which are sponsored by HSBC, are regarded as the franchise industry’s top accolade. The BFA was set up in 1977 to act in the interests of the industry in assessing and accrediting franchising companies.
