Corporate guests offered exclusive use of Seaham Hall

Business guests looking for space and privacy are being offered the exclusive use of one of the North East’s most prestigious hotels.

Seaham Hall, which overlooks the Durham heritage coastline and was voted Small Hotel of the Year at the North East England Tourism Awards 2013, is one of the region’s foremost meeting and conference settings.

Now, it has extended its appeal to corporate clients by offering them sole and exclusive use of its function rooms, lounge, restaurant and suites for the duration of their visit.

The hotel recently unveiled the results of a refurbishment to its Ballroom and satellite meeting rooms – one of which is believed to be the very room in which Romantic poet Lord Byron proposed to the daughter of the Hall’s owner in 1815.

All the private rooms overlook the hotel’s 37 acre grounds, which provide plenty of space for country pursuits, such as archery and laser clay shooting or for teams to take part in team challenges and outdoor games. In addition, the 20-suite hotel specialises in corporate fun days for which it can not only provide mud buggies – for cross country chases – and quad bikes, but also paintballing and even golf, on a spectacular par 71 course. Meanwhile, the team of chefs from the hotel’s Byron’s Bar and Grill – under the leadership of head chef Simon Bolsover – can provide catering to suit all requirements, from outdoor barbecues to formal dinners and private dining.

General manager, Ross Grieve, said: “Increasingly, businesses require a venue to offer flexibility. They want somewhere which facilitates a conference and also offers breakout spaces: which can provide working lunches and formal evening dining and which can see them seamlessly through a day of meetings into an evening event.

“Not only can Seaham Hall tick all those boxes but, by offering exclusive use, not just of the hotel and restaurant but also of the grounds, we also offer privacy and that is proving particularly popular with a number of our private and public sector clients.”

Just six miles from Sunderland, 13 miles from Durham and 20 miles from Newcastle and Newcastle International Airport, Seaham Hall is ideally located for clients travelling from across the region and for international visitors.
