Environmental Charity announces six new appointments to its Leeds office

Yorkshire based, environmental charity, Groundwork Leeds, appoints six new members of staff and is still recruiting for two more positions. The flurry of new appointments comes as the Leeds Trust expands its offering into new areas of the community as well as strengthening the commercial awareness section of the business.

Leeds is the first Groundwork Trust to regionally appoint a Fundraising Manager. The role has been snapped up by Hayley Doswell, whose previous experience as Business Innovations Manager for a homeless charity and Director of a social enterprise organisation, lends itself to the new position.

Hayley explains: “I’ve spent much of my career helping organisations become more sustainable and spent a lot of time raising awareness and fundraising for various causes. I’ve been tasked by Groundwork to raise unrestricted income, accessing both corporate businesses and the local community and ultimately raise the charity’s profile. The environmental focus of Groundwork was a key attraction for me. Their green ethos fits into my own personal agenda and I can’t wait to start really getting to grips with all the worthwhile initiatives they are involved in and the challenges that lay ahead.”

The Green Doctors team has expanded with two new appointments; Katrine Madsen has recently completed her Masters at the University of Leeds in Sustainability, Environment and Development and Tom Williams joins from Mansfield District Council.

Groundwork Leeds prides itself on supporting young people on apprenticeship programmes, the newest recruit; Ollie Russchen has joined as the Men in Sheds Apprentice. Jack Hamilton joins the team as Lifelong Learning Tutor after volunteering for over a year with the charity, while studying at The University of Huddersfield. And Jamie-Lee Reed joins as Design and Marketing Assistant following the successful completion of her Marketing Apprenticeship based at Groundwork Leeds head office.

Adrian Curtis, Executive Director, Groundwork Leeds comments: “The new appointments show our commitment to the region and emphasise our focus on widening our scope of projects and who they are available to. We are delighted to be able to appoint such talented people into an organisation that is continuing to evolve, adapt and reach new people in the corporate and community arena.

“We also believe strongly in youth employment and are committed to providing opportunities. Together all our new recruits will help strengthen our corporate position and help us deliver against our 2016 growth targets.”

Groundwork is still recruiting for a Development Manager in conjunction with the Wakefield Trust and a Study Programme Tutor, which is a brand new position as Groundwork expands this popular programme for 16-18 year olds into Bradford.
