Preston-based Napthens nab police station for testing company

Preston Solicitors at Napthens have helped an expanding industrial testing business acquire unusual new premises.

PTS Ltd, based in Adlington near Chorley, carries out a range of testing services for motorway and runway surfaces.

The company, founded in 2002, examines the structural properties of such surfaces, drilling samples and submitting them to specialist testing.

It works for major clients including Capita, Carillion, The Highways Agency and various local authorities.

PTS employs 45 staff including laboratory staff, surveyors and engineers, and has sites in Adlington and Newark.

The company has now acquired the former police station on Watling Street Road, Fulwood, Preston at auction.

The 400 sq. m. building will now become the headquarters of the business.

Tony Sewell, managing director, was advised on the acquisition by Stephen Bell, solicitor in the Commercial Property team at Napthens solicitors.

Stephen Bell said: “PTS operates a highly specialised service, working for a range of blue chip clients. It has fairly quickly built up a reputation as a leader in this niche sector, and it’s great to see the business doing well.”

Funding was arranged by HSBC.

Commercial Manager, Lancashire & Cumbria area, Fiona Wilson, said: “PTS is a well-established business that has adapted and evolved with its customer base. It is typical of the ambitious, growing Lancashire businesses that we are doing all we can to support.”
