Leeds mobility device specialists launch new division

Leading Leeds-based mobility device specialists, Pickerings, is expanding its operations with the launch of a new division that will see it selling and installing mobility devices for the first time.

The five-strong team, headquartered in Tingley, has already made a name for itself nationally with its comprehensive maintenance service for mobility devices of all kinds in the housing, nursing home, education and hospitality sectors.

Now, under the guidance of mobility manager, Mick van-der-Stock, who heads up the office, Pickerings will launch an “installation” division, which will see the company move into distribution and installation services.

As of this month, Pickerings will now sell and install a wide range of leading-edge mobility devices across the UK, including floor lifts, bath hoists, mobile hoists, bed hoists and medical beds. The move will help businesses of all kinds cater for those who are less able-bodied and fulfil their requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

Since launching, the new division has already worked with Bradford City Council and Leeds-based Unity Housing.

Mick van-der-Stock, Pickerings’ Mobility Manager, said: “This expansion is great news for Pickerings Mobility Maintenance and Repair, and adds a whole new dimension to our service offering. While we’re already renowned for the quality and thoroughness of our maintenance offering, this move into the installation sector will significantly grow our business, and provide real added-value to our customer-base.”

Pickerings Mobility Maintanence & Repair is part of Pickerings Lifts, one of the oldest engineering firms in England, founded in 1854 in the North East by Jonathan Pickering to manufacture pulleys, blocks and chains.
