North East entrepreneur launches PR startup
A female entrepreneur and PR professional has launched KD Communications, a new content and communications consultancy based in Cramlington.
Kathryn Dishman set up the business to offer companies across the North East a multi-channel mix of content creation services, encompassing strategic planning for PR, campaign management, copywriting and social media training.
With over 10 years of experience in marketing communications, working for both public sector and professional services organisations, Kathryn has extensive experience in PR. During her career she has worked on a number of regional and national media campaigns targeting a range of sectors, including construction, education and energy as well as North East and Yorkshire SMEs.
Launching with a strong start of five retained clients, Kathryn said: “This is a really exciting time for me both on a personal and professional level. KD Communications has been two years in the planning and the first few months of trading have been both fantastic and quite hectic.
“Having been client-side for a number of years, I really understand the complex needs of in-house teams, the challenges they face, and the commercial approach they expect, so I can offer them the right level of advice for their business.
“I’m currently working with clients at very different stages of their business – some are startups and others are well established regional and national companies. They operate across a mix of sectors, including construction, social housing and education so I’m wearing a few different hats at the moment and am relishing the challenges that come with running a business.”
