Huddersfield family bakery warms up for success after £10k investment

Huddersfield artisan family bakery, Farnley Market, is set for further growth with a £10k investment, after only launching last September.

The investment has allowed the firm, run by husband and wife team Stephen and Simone Harrison, to recruit additional employees and has invested in a larger oven worth £10k to cater for growing customer demand.

Popular restaurant The Three Acres at Shelley and gastro pub the Woodman Inn, Thunderbridge are the first businesses to sign up the Farnley Market team to deliver a regular supply of the artisan bread for their customers.

The Farnley team has been able to deliver the bread to the eateries in their new branded van which they have invested a further £24k purchasing.

To cope with growing consumer demand, the new oven has doubled capacity having been installed on 25 January. And to ensure Stephen is able to focus on developing the business further, the duo has recruited a general manager and two retail assistants from the local area to grow the team to a total of 10.

Megan Moore joins as general manager and will be responsible for the smooth running of the Bakehouse’s coffee shop while Lisa Heaphy joined December 2014 as retail assistant alongside Oliver Bottom.

Owner of Farnley Market, Stephen Harrison said: “We’re delighted to welcome new employees to the Bakehouse and know they will be valuable members of the team to support our continued growth.

“We are immensely proud of the Bakehouse’s achievements since we opened our doors and have been overwhelmed with the support we have had from local residents and businesses to date.

“The residents of Huddersfield clearly have an appetite for real bread and I’m overjoyed with the new oven which means we’re able to bake 50% more bread which should help us deliver to more trade businesses locally.”
