Businesses must replace recession CEOs to grow
Businesses must replace recession CEOs to make the most of post recession growth opportunities says Russell Allen, Engagement Director at conference and event organisers Crescendo
If businesses are to make the most of post recession growth opportunities, they need to replace spend stopping, cost controlling, financially focussed recession CEOs. Instead they should put in place business leaders with more of an investment, marketing or operational background and inclination who are more willing to invest and to take risks to grow the business.
There are increasingly positive indicators in the economy, but many organisations are still very cautious about loosening the purse strings. I believe that it is no co-incidence that many of the CEOs who have guided businesses and reduced expenditure during the recession had backgrounds in finance and cost control. For organisations to expand and compete successfully in the post recession economy, they will have to invest boldly and promptly in new product development, marketing, internal and external communications, staff, training and performance improvement. Otherwise they will be left behind as those with a more enterprising approach to growth seize the opportunities.
Forward thinking businesses have plans in place for post recession markets; they need bold investors to implement them and maximise the results.
