James Wharton visits Barratt Homes’ Mandale Park

Ahead of the general election in May, James Wharton, the previous incumbent as MP for Stockton South until Parliament was dissolved earlier this month, has undertaken a tour of Barratt Homes North East’s Mandale Park development on Thorntree Road.

The tour represented the latest stage in the extensive redevelopment programme Stockton has undertaken in the past ten years. A partnership between the public and private sectors has raised £100 million for the area, which is set to bring 891 much needed properties to Thornaby once complete. Barratt Homes has led much of the construction – bringing a total of 333 properties to Stockton.

During his visit, James met local resident Mrs Ferguson and her three young children who moved to the development after using Barratt Homes’ innovative Part Exchange scheme. The two discussed the improvements made to the area in the past decade and also future plans for the city.

Mike Roberts, Managing Director of Barratt Homes North East, commented: “In 2003 the Mandale Estate was in a dire state of repair, with almost half of the 578 units of residential accommodation in the area unoccupied. Since then however, it has been amazing to see the regeneration of not only the estate, but of the area as a whole.

“Out of the 333 properties we committed to building there are only 42 left to complete meaning local house buyers have access to a range of high quality Barratt Homes which are the perfect setting for raising young families.”

James Wharton, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Stockton South, commented “It is great to see the dramatic regeneration and improvements, as well as so many people benefiting from Government backed schemes like Help to Buy. Everyone shoul have the chance to own their own home and I am pleased that companies like Barratt Homes are playing their part in making that ambition a reality, locally.”

Mandale Park features a selection of two, three and four bedroom homes from the Barratt ‘County’ range.
