Wheatfields Hospice is challenging local businesses across Leeds
Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice is launching this month a new challenge to all local businesses across Leeds to test their ability to work as a team. ‘Out of Office’ challenge will offer teams of up to five people the chance to see if their combined skills can take them to the top to become the overall winner.
The ‘Out of Office’ challenge will take place on Friday 05 June and businesses have until Friday 27 May to register their interest at www.sueryder.org/outofoffice The event will offer participants the opportunity to take back some invaluable learning outcomes from the day, as teams will be asked to undertake a variety of tasks making use of skills such as good leadership, communication, creative and organisational skills.
Holly Buckley, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice and organiser of the event, commented: “Each team will be given a series of challenges out in the community for the day. Each task you complete is worth a certain number of points and across the course of the day, the team that collects the most points will be crowned the overall winners. Think Challenge Anneka mixed with the Apprentice and you’ll be close to what we’re aiming for.
Each task will require each team to use a variety of skills. It’s more than just a team building day, it’s a fun way to do something for your local community while at the same time further developing invaluable skills that can be used at work as well as in your daily life.
Whether you are looking for a team building event, a volunteering opportunity or a learning and development day, this covers them all, all whilst benefiting your local hospice“.
Teams will join the fundraising team for breakfast before setting off and taking on various tasks to help increase awareness and gather support for the hospice. At the end of the day participants will be welcomed back with refreshments to receive some exciting prizes. There will be a networking opportunity at the end of the day and Charlotte Sweeney will then conclude the event with an inspiring speech to ensure people can take back some precious tips from the day that they can use in their day to day roles.
Holly added: “We hope people will leave the day feeling they are taking back some valuable outcomes from the day, feeling energised and with a sense of achievement knowing they have made a huge difference to the people we care for every year.
How people approach the end of their life will leave an everlasting memory with their family and friends. This is why it is so important to make sure they can have the best experience possible“.
It costs £4m to run the hospice every year, and a significant part of this amount comes from donations and fundraising. The services at Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice are free of charge to patients and their loved ones, and in order to continue providing specialist care, the hospice needs to raise around £2.5m in donations every year.
