Middlesbrough Football Club in digital matchday revolution
Middlesbrough Football Club are set to revolutionise the Riverside Stadium this season by employing digital technology to enhance both supporter experience and the commercial opportunities offered by the club.
Working alongside digital venue specialists ADI, Boro are to install a first in world football – a 360° digital pitch perimeter LED system. The revolutionary system will integrate a crowd-facing digital display capable of serving live match stats and social media content.
The platform will integrate with the club’s stadium screen and a network of 70 new displays, which will deliver exclusive programming, unique StatZone content, social media, news, and exclusive video content to fans throughout the Riverside.
Content across every digital channel will be powered by Live Venue, ADI’s high speed fibre network, which connects the Riverside Stadium to the company’s Preston-based sports production hub.
ADI’s experienced sports production team, which already manages the stadium LED screen output, will be responsible for driving the content across every display in the stadium - delivering an immersive, engagement-led experience for fans whilst creating huge commercial opportunities for the club’s partners.
Mark Ellis, Middlesbrough Football Club’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “As a club we constantly look to improve and innovate with the fans at heart. Having worked with ADI we know first-hand that they deliver a top- quality product and are leaders in their field.
“We think Boro fans will welcome this addition to matchdays, but there is also a big opportunity for businesses to become involved. We look forward to working with all interested parties.”
Geraint Williams, ADI’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Middlesbrough to enhance matchdays for Boro fans. The club has always shown great vision and it’s exciting that, through innovation, we can work together for the fans and create opportunities that deliver real commercial value.
“We’re investing in a long-term relationship with Middlesbrough, through which we’ll share our expertise - delivering cutting-edge stadium technology to create an engaging experience that delivers real value for the club, its fans and commercial partners.”
