Strictly Come Dancing winner supports anti-bullying campaign
Strictly Come Dancing winner behind new anti-bullying campaign
12 August 2015 – A new celebrity-endorsed anti-bullying social media campaign named ‘One Message To Me’, celebrates International Youth Day, and will raise funds for the first UK charity to deal with bullying in schools, Kidscape, has been launched by the UK’s leading classroom and network management company, Impero Software.
Supported by TV and stage actress Jill Halfpenny, Kidscape’s aim is to raise awareness of bullying among children, with a particular emphasis on the growing problem of cyber-bullying. By providing support and advice to children, parents, schools, and those in professional contact with young people, the charity arms them with the confidence and skills they need to challenge abuse and bullying in all its forms.
Kidscape ambassador Jill Halfpenny comments: “Please support the One Message To Me campaign and donate to Kidscape. I’ve seen the way they help and transform the children they work with.”
“Let’s join together and give our younger generation the chance to know all the things we wish we’d known sooner.”
Impero Software’s campaign hopes to offer support to children by passing on messages that adults wish they could tell their younger selves. To convey this sentiment, the campaign will be accompanied by this message:
“Imagine that you were given the opportunity to go back in time, and you were allowed to write a short sentence to your younger self, when you were a child. This message could change your life, so what would you say?”
To participate, all entrants are asked to write their answer to the question on a sheet of paper and post it on their Facebook pages as well as nominating three or more friends to take part. By doing so, they are also encouraged to make a donation, no matter how small, to Kidscape.
Sally-Ann Griffiths, e-safety development manager at Impero Software comments: “All kids have fears, insecurities, doubts, and dreams. Often they do not have the experience or the confidence to stand up to bullies, whether as victims or potential bystanders.
“We hope this campaign will make people think about the major issues children face that they can overcome with the right type of advice and support.”
Kidscape’s ambassadors include fashion expert and television personality Gok Wan and Britain’s Got Talent singer Ronan Parke, who wrote a song with a strong anti-bullying message, reflecting his experiences of cyber bullying after becoming a public figure.
