Gentoo Construction win £3m contract on Teesside

Gentoo Construction has won a new contract worth £3m to build a supported housing facility on behalf of its client The Riverside Group.

The site on Grange Road in Middlesbrough has been developed by Riverside to provide a supported residential building, comprising of 20 self-contained flats of the highest quality of social housing, along with training facilities to support people into employment.

The new four storey building will replace a disused commercial building that currently stands in its place.

Dominic Beha, Senior Project Manager at Riverside said: “This is a great development for us as we continue to deliver quality supported housing across the country. Having worked with Gentoo Construction on a number of our projects, we’re delighted to have them on board at Grange Road.”

Other facilities within the scheme include a training kitchen where residents can learn about healthy eating and budgeting, IT training facilities and an interview room.

Gentoo Construction, as principal contractor on site, is also looking to offer employment and training opportunities.

David Dixon, Head of Customer Services at Gentoo Construction, said: “We’re delighted to be continuing our successful partnership with Riverside and look forward to getting started on site. Across all of our projects we strive to deliver added value to our client’s and to the local community and one way we intend to do this at Grange Road is through offering local employment and training opportunities.”

Work on site began in July and the scheme is due for completion in August 2016.
