Work has started on the second phase of the business park development Bridgehead.

Phase two of sustainable business park gets underway

Infrastructure work on phase two of Bridgehead Business Park, which includes work on access roads and drainage, is now underway.

Hull-based developer Wykeland Group has appointed North Ferriby contractor CR Reynolds to prepare the site for the second phase of the development in a contract worth £1.3m, after successfully completing the infrastructure works on phase one.

Developed by the Wykeland Group, the first phase of Bridgehead is located on the north side of the A15 in the northern approach road up to the Humber Bridge, and is now home to companies such as John Good Group, Beal Homes and Victoria Plumb.

The second phase of the development will be built on the south side of the road and will mirror the architectural style and parkland environment of the first.

Bridhehead’s landscape strategy has been designed in accordance with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to ensure biodiversity on the site increases as a result of the development work.

The buildings feature renewable energy technologies including biomass boilers, solar PV panels, a natural ventilation and free night air cooling systems and daylight dimming lights, making it one of the UK’s most sustainable business parks.

Partly funded by an ERDF grant, the work includes the construction of an access road to connect to phase one, installing drainage, street lighting and comprehensive landscaping of the entire site.

Chris Reynolds, managing director of CR Reynolds, said: “After successfully completing the infrastructure work for phase one of Bridgehead, we have now started infrastructure work on the second phase of the development.

“We are delighted to be working with the Wykeland Group again, in a partnership history that goes back some 30 years.”

Grant Edmondson, property director at Wykeland, added: “Phase one of Bridgehead has been a tremendous success not only in terms of take up of space but also to the quality of occupiers it has attracted, the work we have done with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to improve biodiversity and overall aesthetics of the business park.

“We have decided to bring phase two forward because demand has been so high with phase one and there has already been a lot of interest. We’re confident phase two will be equally successful.”

More than 150,000 sq ft of grade A office and other commercial space has already been created at Phase one of Bridgehead. When the whole scheme is completed the development will total 612,000 sq ft.
