Durham BID launches new marketing tool website

Durham Business Improvement District Company (Durham BID) has unveiled a brand new website designed to help businesses within Durham City better market their offerings to a local audience with the aim of increasing footfall through the city.

Designed and delivered by Durham BID’s marketing partner, r//evolution, the new website is fully responsive, so end-users can access information about all the businesses and their special offers within Durham City while on the go.

Commenting on the launch of the new website, Adam Deathe, business engagement manager at Durham BID, said: “We’re delighted with the look, feel and functionality of the new BID website. We took the decision to redevelop the site to make it fit for purpose and a really useful tool to help support businesses across the city market themselves to customers, while giving visitors a go-to source for information on all the different things there are to see, do and experience in Durham. “

Through the new website, not only are businesses able to keep-up-to-date with news from the BID and how it is working support businesses across the city, businesses are also able to create their own profiles by which the businesses can promote their products and services to people coming into the city through the dedicated visitor pages of the site.

As a BID business, users are able to create their own business page, letting people know where they are in the city and what services they offer to customers. From fashion to food, legal to lettings, each BID business has the opportunity to create their own profile on the new website to help better market themselves to a local audience. Then, when a potential visitor comes to the site and, for example, searches for restaurants in the city, all foodie businesses will appear in the search results.

Through the new website, visitors can also create their own profile, selecting the types of products or services they are interested in. Then, BID businesses are able to automatically send their special offers to consumers who have specifically indicated they had a special interest in their sector, meaning businesses across Durham City are marketing their business to the right audience.

Mr Deathe added: “The BID is dedicated to supporting businesses within Durham City and the launch of the new website is an integral part of our new engagement programme to help attract people living within an hour or so drive into Durham, rather than visiting some other towns and cities across the North East.

“To help businesses make the most of the exciting opportunities the new website presents, we’re working with our marketing partner and the website’s developers, r//evolution, to provide training and support to businesses across the city to get them up and running with their own profiles and marketing their special offers to a truly targeted and very relevant audience.”

In addition to the visitor marketing capabilities, the new website also features a vacancies posting facility. Businesses in Durham City can advertise upcoming jobs within the new pages of the website, further helping to increase footfall in the city, encouraging those looking for a new job to consider seeking employment in Durham City centre.

Mr Deathe concluded: “This is the first phase launch of our website – there’s so much more to come, allowing the website to integrate seamlessly with other marketing communication efforts, further helping businesses across the city to stand out from the crowd and draw in more and more locals to use Durham city as their main service centre.”
