Fhoss Technology Shortlisted for Innovation Accolade

A HIGH tech clothing company revolutionising workplace safety has been shortlisted for its eighth award in 2015.

Fhoss Technology, a British start-up based in Weston-super-Mare, supplies light powered Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to help illuminate workers in the dark.

The revolutionary high tech wear features battery-powered strips on top of normal reflective material allowing employees to be clearly visible in low-light conditions.

Products have been adopted by over 200 construction customers including Network Rail, London Underground, Balfour Beatty, Skanska and Amey, and due to its success Fhoss has won, and has been shortlisted for a string of awards.

Fhoss was awarded the 2015 New Product Innovation Award by Frost & Sullivan in August, and has now been shortlisted for Innovation of the year in the North Somerset Business Awards.

In being shortlisted Fhoss have demonstrated to judges that their product has led to commercial success, or had a significant impact.

Founder Andy Kimitri says Fhoss meets both requirements in that it is revolutionising workplace safety both in the UK and globally, with products now being imported to America, Australia and Europe.

Mr Kimitri, who was recently recognised at the annual 42 Under 42 South West business awards for entrepreneurial endeavour and success, says he hopes the technology will help save the lives of those working in dangerous situations.

He said: “Fhoss Technology has made huge waves across several industry sectors with wearable technology that improves safety and empowers customers to achieve higher productivity.

“Being shortlisted for this award from such a reputable and respected organisation is a huge endorsement for Fhoss and confirms that the innovation we have developed is exactly what is needed to help improve workforce safety.

“Following successes with several other awards in the last six months, the team at Fhoss are delighted that their hard endeavours are starting to bring success to its key markets.”

Mr Kimitri came up with the idea for the product while working in the hospitality industry in Weston-super-Mare and spent three years developing the idea.

He felt he could help distinguish security personnel in case of an emergency and later realised the product would be beneficial to other industry workers.

Fhoss has some exciting developments in the pipeline and hopes its safety wear will continue to grab a significant share of the £1.5bn global high viz market.
