Wasserman Experience brings Barclays ATP to life

For the seventh consecutive year, The O2 in London will transform into a stage for the biggest indoor tennis tournament in the world, the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.

The tournament, which runs from 15th to 22nd November, sees 30 matches between the world’s top eight men’s singles players and doubles teams, in a unique round-robin and knockout format.

Wasserman Experience is working with the ATP to manage the in-bowl experience from concept to onsite delivery, managing the pre-match player choreography, special effects, breaks in play, audio and screen content for both the daily shows and final presentation ceremonies. In addition to this, Wasserman Experience worked this year with the ATP to produce the Official Launch of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on 12th November at City Hall.

At The O2, fans will be entertained with pre-match shows complete with special effects, lighting, projections, player introductions, bespoke video content and interactive social media activities. The show continues throughout the match with the aim of providing constant excitement, interaction and thrills for the fans from start to finish, whilst supporting and complementing the action that is taking place on court.

This year, the ATP have launched their very own social media platform, MyATP, powered by Vixlet. The app will offer unique behind the scenes content and give fans the chance to interact with their favourite tennis stars. To launch the app, Wasserman Experience were asked to provide an interactive experience in the fan zone, aiming to raise awareness of the app and generate fun and engaging content. This inspired MyATP Hot Shots. The activation will offer the opportunity for fans to play tennis and be coached on the Mini Court, whilst capturing their very own tennis highlights video and also take part in the MyATP Prize booth competition where they could win 2x ATP World Tour Finals tickets for the very next day’s evening session. The fan zone will support the MyATP app, giving fans the opportunity to experience tennis like never before.

The season finale is set to be bigger and better this year. The action packed experience sees great production teams coming together as one, and by the end of the tournament, under ATP guidance, Wasserman Experience will have produced 820 pieces of content, 3200 video states, 2050 lighting states, 700 stage management cues, 650 pieces of produced video content, 150 pieces of supplied video content and 120 music tracks.

ATP Executive Chairman and President, Chris Kermode said: “Since 2009, over 1.5 million fans have attended the tournament, achieving an unprecendented number of sold-out crowds, making it the biggest indoor tennis tournament ever staged in the world. The team at Wasserman Experience continues to work hard with us to bring the tournament to life, adding to the excitement in a unique and creative way – ensuring that for eight days in November, the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals becomes the centre of attention in the sports and entertainment world.”

Cris Cicirello, joint managing director of Wasserman Experience, said: “To be involved with the ATP for the seventh consecutive year is something we are very proud of. Each year we work with the ATP to bring fans a truly unique and unforgettable experience and we are once again thrilled to be part of creating the biggest indoor tennis tournament in the world.”
