Croft Filters employee shortlisted for fourth national photography award

Rob Watkins, marketing manager at leading filter manufacturer, Croft Filters, has been announced as a finalist for the prestigious manufacturers’ organisation EEF/Lombard Manufacturing Photography Competition 2015.

The contest aims to raise the profile of modern UK manufacturing by highlighting the industry’s creativity, diversity and heritage through inspiring photography.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Warrington-based Rob has been shortlisted in the awards, having triumphed as the Best Photography by an Amateur Photographer in 2014 and 2012, and in the Amateur Mobile category in 2013.

Rob’s two shortlisted images, which were taken at Croft’s factory in Warrington, showcase one of its many bespoke filters during the manufacturing process. The images capture an engineer meticulously welding together the flange of a perforated steel filter, which then goes on to be exported and sold all over the world.

Commenting on the announcement, Rob said: “To be shortlisted for a fourth consecutive year is a real personal achievement, especially as the calibre of entries is higher than ever. To win the award would be a huge accomplishment both for myself and Croft, not to mention a great way to highlight the innovative filter designs we have to offer.”

Neil Burns, director of Croft Filters, continued: “Rob’s images have done a superb job of capturing the intricate craftsmanship that goes into our products, so whatever the outcome of the awards, we’re all very proud that his hard work is being recognised by the industry.”

Rob’s photographs, along with all other shortlisted entries will be on display at the awards ceremony in the House of Commons, Thursday 10th December where the winners will be announced and awarded a share of £5,000 of photography equipment.
