Entrepreneur behind The 30-Year Sweatshirt opens bricks-and-mortar store

Brainchild of 25-year old designer Tom Cridland, The 30-Year Sweatshirt has opened a flagship shop on London’s King’s Road today.

In 2014, Tom launched his menswear fashion venture, simply named Tom Cridland, with a £6,000 government start-up loan. The University of Bristol graduate saw turnover rise to £250,000 in the company’s first year for his sweatshirt and t-shirt design that come with a 30 year guarantee.

The menswear brand takes pride in its craftsmen and seamstresses, who have been making clothing since 1964. In addition to his sustainable fashion venture, Tom founded his own PR agency, Tom Cridland Public Relations two months ago, having already signed his first 15 clients.

The eponymous brand’s iconic sweatshirt and t-shirt design regularly appear on the celebrity circuit, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Stephen Fry and Daniel Craig counted amongst its fans.

Tom told Bdaily: “I’m delighted to be opening a shop in London. Having grown up in this wonderful city and still living here part of the time, I can honestly say there would be no place I’d rather my brand have it’s first retail location and I can’t wait to interact with customers and supporters of The 30 Year Sweatshirt campaign.”

Hannah Grievson, Commercial Property Manager at site owners Sloane Stanley, added: “The Sloane Stanley Estate is proud to offer a dedicated space to the next batch of eager innovators. THE CONCEPT STORE offers these exciting designers and entrepreneurs their first opportunity to trade on a high profile and busy shopping street that would really enhance and grow the brand.

“Many of these businesses trade successfully online and never see their customers. It’s fantastic for them to get some market research.”

“The store will be an ever evolving concept where not only fashion brands will be welcome but also Lifestyle, Homeware and Art installations will play a part in bringing new life to the King’s Road.”
